POKER TOURNAMENT CANCELLED

Due to declining attendence and rising costs in the economy, we have regretfully decided to cancel the Orf 17 Showdown poker tournaments until further notice.  We appreciate all of those that have contributed their time, money, and resources in the past tournaments.  Please continue to check with the website for further events.  Thank you.

We apologize for the delay in our posting. With a wedding to plan and computer glitches, we have been very negligent in our updates. A lot has happened since our last post  This year we were able to issue THREE Orf 17 Scholarships! Two were issued through Midstates Hockey, the third through Friends of Kids with Cancer, both of which were near and dear to Bobby.  All three scholarship recipients have successfully left for their intended schools.  Midstates Hockey recipient James Ryan is attending Miami University of Ohio.  James is a Lafayette High School graduate and a cancer survivor.  Our other Midstates Hockey recipient, Kenny Roberts, is attending Missouri State University.  Kenny is a Lutheran South High School Graduate, and  had open heart surgery for an Aberrant right artery, something they usually don't find in time in athletes.  Our third recipient, chosen through Friends of Kids With Cancer and issued at the FOKWC walk in April, is Alex Wilcox and he is attending St. Louis Community College, Meramec. Alex graduated from Vianni High School. He is a cancer survivor as well.  We wish all of them the greatest success!
     This year's annual golf tournament was a great success!  Thanks to all that supported through sponsoring and/or attending.  It is because of you that we are able to continue to give to these deserving youngsters!  Our annual Orf 17 Golf Tournament, held every year on the 3rd Saturday in July,  is our largest fund raiser and is the main reason we were able to issue three scholarships this year. Our second largest contributor is our annual Texas Hold "Em poker tournament held at the Holiday Inn, Eureka.  We are gearing up for that as we write. So mark your calendars for the Friday after Thanksgiving.  It includes dinner, snacks, and prizes. It's a great time and a great cause.  Since it is over the holiday weekend, many of your friends are in town, so make a night of it! We will give you updates when they become known. And we promise to be more prompt!

A great big THANK YOU! to all of our friends and family that came to support us at the Friends of Kids with Cancer (FOKWC) walk!  It was a great turn out and the weather was very cooperative.  We, the Orf family, presented our first Bobby Orf 17 Scholarship to a FOKWC recipient for $2,500.00.  It is our 6th scholarship overall, but the first to FOKWC. We had approximately 60 members on the Bobby's Team 17.  Not bad for our first year, but hoping to have an even better showing next year.  Hopefully you can make it next year, and bring a friend or two!  Thanks again.
